About Core Total Wellness
Hey there! I’m Hilary.
I’ve been practicing physical therapy for 23 years, and during that time, I have helped many people recover from injuries and discover their strength. Prior to PT school, I was a personal trainer for many years with a graduate degree in Exercise Physiology. I pride myself on continuing to grow my knowledge and expertise in rehab, health, and wellness.
After dealing with my own personal injuries and health issues, I know how important it is to ensure that you feel powerful, resilient, and capable in your body. I also understand how challenging and frustrating the journey back can be. My background in Pilates and strength training helps ensure you come back from your injury stronger than before. I am passionate about bridging the gap between rehab and fitness and will help you find a way to modify movement and activity to meet your body where it is currently at.
I have used my passion for health and healing to help people resolve pain and injury issues. Most of my career has been in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy and sports medicine. I opened CORE Physical Therapy in 2006 to provide clients uninterrupted one-on-one attention and to integrate rehab and fitness all under one roof while exploring the root cause of my client’s injuries more efficiently and holistically. I have extensive experience and training in various musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, including dysfunctions of the spine and pelvis, orthopedic and sports-related injuries, and post-surgical rehab. I have treated professional and collegiate athletes from all athletic backgrounds and served as the team Physical Therapist for the Washington Kastles of World Team Tennis from 2009-2019. But, what I love most is treating individuals who are getting older, just like me, who still want to do all the things that bring them joy, whether that is playing tennis/golf, running a marathon, or just playing with their kids or grandkids.
I became certified in Pilates for Rehab after dealing with some back issues of my own and realizing how powerful it can be to accelerate healing. I now integrate it into rehabilitation with my clients. As a PT, I also learned the importance of a healthy diet and how it affects the recovery process and inflammation, so I wanted to dive in even deeper and became a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.
Through all of my education and experience, I believe that it is essential to assess and treat the whole person, not just the symptoms or injury. I know that recovering from an injury or trying to feel your best in order to do the things you love takes hard work. I am here to help, support, and empower you on your journey.

How We Can Work Together
-
PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical Therapists treat pain through movement, hands-on care, and education. We will empower you to take control of your physical pain, optimize function and performance, and gain an improved understanding of your body. Our personalized and comprehensive care gets you back on your feet faster and feeling better sooner. We not only address the injury itself but also figure out the root cause of your injury, how that injury affects your daily life, and how we can prevent it from becoming a recurring injury.
-
HEALTH COACHING
Using a holistic approach, we will work together to find the right balance for you. Maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle can be challenging, especially when you are busy, have a demanding career, juggling work-life balance, and have a full life.
My goal is to help you better understand food and lifestyle choices that work best for you, improving your health, energy, balance, and happiness. Programs are customized to your specific needs and range from a single session to monthly coaching packages.

PILATES-BASED REHAB
Clinical Pilates incorporates Pilates-based rehab with traditional therapy methods. Pilates for rehab is gentle on the joints and the perfect way for a client to gain strength without overstressing the injured area. The focus is on building core strength, flexibility, breathing techniques, spinal mobility, and strengthening the entire body. Pilates also develops the smaller muscle groups, helping chronically weak and imbalanced muscles become stronger. Modifications to the exercises allow for a range of difficulty from beginning to advanced.

FITNESS TRAINING
Going beyond physical therapy and Pilates rehabilitation, we provide fitness training and sports performance to enhance your functional strength, teach safe and proper movement patterns and optimize your fitness, specific to your individual goals. We don’t just want to help with your current aches and pains, we want to continue working with you to reach your full potential. We use personal fitness training to bridge the gap between rehab and your fitness goals without re-injuring healing structures.
